1st Match Day - 16.12.2018

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 0:0

Buda Juniors – Voyage 4:0

Buda Juniors – Pilisszentiván 8:2

Buda Juniors – Pomáz 2:1

This year’s oldest age group is our 2005/2006 mixed team. 3 wins and 1 draw on a day that started with 0-0 against Piliscsaba. The way the guys stepped into the game was promising but we lacked concentration infront of goal and there is no denying the top class performance of the opposition goalkeeper. Two wins were to follow thanks to the drive, passion and concentration shown by the team that was based around the excellent Leo in goal, Luis, Martin and Móric. Lele, Tádé and Guillermo combined many times brilliantly to creat opportunities and score goals, Maarten provided for support at the back while Oskarel’s dynamic playing style always caused trouble for opposition defences. The biggest test was against a skillful Pomáz team but the guys did well in a game that was more about phisicality and hard work then beautiful football. Deserved 2-1 winners to round off a good start to the Winter Cup season 2018-2019!

2nd Match Day - 12.01.2019

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 0:1

Buda Juniors – Voyage 0:6

Buda Juniors – Pilisszentiván 5:0

Buda Juniors – Pomáz 2:5

We started the day off with an intense match vs Piliscsaba... an early defensive mistake was the only difference. Despite the early goal they quickly reacted and at times played good football and created a couple of good chances to draw the game at the death. The second match vs Voyage was bit different. The 0-6 loss was plagued with defensive errors and we lacked creativity going forward. Sometimes simple things are the deciders, and in this case the lack of awareness and passing never allowed us to get in the game. The third match began similar to the first two until the 13th minute when Oriol slowed the game down and connected very nicely with his teammates. The first two goals, courtesy of Mateusz, were true number 9 goals. At the right place at the right time to push the ball into the net. These goals allowed us to finally settle down and just play. The movement was there and the passing found everyone. A great solo goal by Oriol, who calmly slalomed his way through the opposition, and two great strikes from Alberto showed the calm and confident state we were in. Five goals in 7 minutes! The final match was a rollercoaster. The 2-5 reflected our performance throughout the day. Good moments where we scored and great chances, and poor moments where we broke down defensively. The lesson of the day was to start strong so that we could end strong.

3rd Match Day - 26.01.2019

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 1:3

Buda Juniors – Voyage 2:5

Buda Juniors – Pilisszentiván 7:1

Buda Juniors – Pomáz 1:2

A bit of morning drama... players late, not showing up, no goalkeeper... a piece worthy of La Gazzetta. Despite the setback of not having a goalkeeper, we played with 5 footballers. The idea was ball movement with a reliable last defender. A quick goal by Martin looked like a promising start, but a few mistakes that definitely could’ve been avoided cost us the match and it affected our overall momentum whenever we had it. Not talking or lack of communication was the culprit.

The second match was a repeat of the first one. Little movement off the ball and the few chances we created were wasted for “excessive individualism”. Martin and Luis got two goals back when it was 0-4, but it still didn’t spark the comeback. Too much hesitation and lack of confidence punished us there, resulting in mistakes and lack of will going forward.

The third game finally burst the bubble. A 7-1 hammering that hopefully motivates us for the final big game against top of the table Pomazi. The score doesn’t reflect the play. Still many mistakes and the opposition made it easier through mistakes of their own. A fine Martin hattrick sent us on our way. An east tap in by Tade and a Mireia shot into an empty net put us comfortably ahead. A big defensive error during a corner saw them bring one back. Nevertheless it wasn’t enough and Luis sealed the win with a quick brace towards the end.

The final match showed the jeckell and hyde of our team. 1-0 up through Martin after a great individual play, but then the accumulation of small mistakes gave them chances to draw level and eventually take the lead. During the last 5 minutes they showed more play and aggression than the other 3 games combined. We hit the post twice and missed a few relatively simple goals. Unlucky not to score and not win the match. An up and down day.
