1st Match Day - 09.12.2018

Buda Juniors – FC Esztergom 0:7

Buda Juniors – Voyage SE 0:9

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 0:7

Buda Juniors – Pomázi Focisuli 1:5

It was a disappointing performance for our 2007/08s. The simple fact that we only scored 1 goal in 80mins summarises the grey day we had.

Even though the commitment was there, simple things like concentration and confidence impeded  this group to play. The rough part is that we know how good they can play. Through the trainings we  see the potential level that obviously escaped them today.

2nd Match Day - 20.01.2019

Buda Juniors – FC Esztergom 0:3

Buda Juniors – Voyage SE 1:6

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 1:1

Buda Juniors – Pomázi Focisuli 1:5

After a very dark first match day, things could only go up. The first game was a reflection of this. Despite the 3-0 loss, there was more aggression and commitment. It was only 3 punctual mistakes that cost us the game, and could have perfectly been avoided. Nevertheless, completely different attitude which was great to see.

The second match again was a massive improvement. The Nikolai, Matteo, Matthias, David quartet produced quality minutes in which Matteo dinked the keeper to get our first goal. The last 4 minutes we put the stronghold on them but our fierceness and pressure was not rewarded. Massive improvement to a team we lost 0-9 last time.

Well well well... the third game was finally when all the pieces fit into place. A great defensive performance and great attitude going forward. This team beat us 0-7 last time, but a Matteo thunderbolt to the top corner gave us a deserved lead that was short-lived. Nevertheless, they left it all on the field. Warriors!

The final match of the day was played with the same attitude but a few tired legs couldn’t keep up the intensity. A great Matteo goal again kept us in it, but we couldn’t close the game. Overall, a much better performance than last time.

3rd Match Day - 02.02.2019

Buda Juniors – FC Esztergom 1:1

Buda Juniors – Voyage SE 1:7

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 1:1

Buda Juniors – Pomázi Focisuli 0:1

The last day kicked off with a great performance in a 1-1 draw. We had to defend for the first few minutes but thankfully we were up to the task. Very little space was given and effort levels were high. After going down 0-1, it was our turn to pressure. We stepped on their toes and complicated their structure. After the third attempt Matteo finally found the back of the net after a powerful strike that the keeper couldn’t keep out. After that it was us that were more likely to score the winner. However, everything ended in a stalemate.

The second match showed our best and worst qualities. At times fantastic defensively and great on the ball yet also at times panicking and poor choices. The only goal scores was when we were at out best. A great counter from Tony and Matteo led to Tony unselfishly giving the ball to Matteo for an easy tap in.

The third match vs Piliscsaba was an intense one. Boldi V and David A were fantastic at the back balancing the atomic duo of Tony and Matteo. A defensive block and free flowing up front. Anton and Nikolai continued that attack. Matteo’s goal was our only one in the match where we could have easily gone 3-0 up. Despite the missed chances, a 1-1 draw was the final result.

The final was equally good. 0-1 down early but we could’ve put 5 past them. Fantastic display from all the players showing the same commitment and energy. Great football at times and overall great attitude. The football gods just didn’t want us to score despite the numerous chances created. We walk away with our heads held high and a shout at Matteo for scoring every Buda Juniors goal in the Winter Cup (6 goals).
