About us
Buda Juniors is an English-language, multi-national football club in Budapest, Hungary for children aged 4 to 19 years old. Run by Janos Banfi, a former Hungarian national team captain with 14 years experience of playing professional football and qualified with the UEFA coaching license, we play at Csilleberc in the Buda hills of the 12th district.

1st Match Day - 29.11.2015

The Buda Juniors 2005 team started this year’s Winter Cup season with 3 wins and 1 loss. With Nils being the goalkeeper for the day the guys got off to a good start with a 2-0 win against Csillaghegy. It was a decent performance but it was the second game where everything went in the Buda Juniors way. A 12-0 win with Raphael, Ádám, Cole, Bogdan, Arthur and Miguel all on the scoresheet at least once. Thanks to the outscoring of the previous opponent the guys were a bit complacent in the beginning of the third match. But before it could go all wrong Miguel’s first goal lounched a fantastic comeback for the guys to win 5-2 after being 2-0 down. Buda Juniors top their group after one matchday despite losin 4-2 in an exciting last match against Piliscsaba. All in all it was a good overall performance and there is still a lot more to come from these guys!

Buda Juniors – Piliscsaba 2:1 (Ádám (2))
After the 2006 and 2003 have done their bit the 2005s were up next. The guys started with a 2:1 win, Luis providing a superb assist for the first goal, and it was Ádám who fired into the bottom right corner with a left footed shot. Next up were Marczibányi a team the guys beat 12-0 on the last match day. The lack of concentration resulted in numerous missed chances and after a heroic defensive effort by the opposition the game ended 0-0. Against Nagykovácsi the guys did better and beside a chaotic 4-5 minutes period they dominated the game. Ádám, Rafa, Bogdan and Miguel all scored. In the last game Piliscsaba went 1-0 up early on and the guys did not find the rythm. The touches were not smooth the movement was a bit slow and when it looked like Piliscsaba could win the match the guys produced one of the best last 5 minutes of any Buda Juniors team this season. Ádi scored twice to turn the game around and send the team on top of the group!

The first playoff match day for the 2005s did not go the way we were hoping. In the 2:0 loss against Csillaghegy the guys were a far cry from their best and although in the second game at 3:0 it looked like the guys can bounce back Mészöly fought back and the match ended 3:3. The 1:0 win over Piliscsaba was a bit more promising, Nils’s goal after Miguel beautifully put him through was the highlight of the game. The rollercoaster ride continued and Pilisvörösvár deserved the 3:0 win. The guys were not sharp and we could not see the effort and motivation that is the characteristic of this team. One more match day left, one more chance for the guys to prove that this was just a slip up!

A day of mixed feelings as the 2005s played their last matchday of the 2015/16 Winter Cup. On paper we had a full squad, but a couple of key players were sick all week and yet still found the strength and energy to participate and help out their teammates. With no fixed goalkeeper, this meant that once again they had to volunteer and rotate in goals. For all those who played in goal a big thank you for your efforts, you all did brilliantly!
You can sum up the day with 3 losses and a win. From the start we lacked the intensity and energy we usually show in trainings and lacked concentration towards the simple things that are key in order to win. Marking, tackling, talking, moving, passing... All these were a bit off in the games they lost. Nevertheless, they did manage to correct these small things for one match and came out with a convincing win.
Despite the results, we all are very proud for your participation and efforts! We take the best things from this years tournament and we'll come back next year!
