1st Match Day - 03.12.2017

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Buda Juniors FC „Blue” 1:0

Buda Juniors FC „Black”  – Pomázi Focisuli SE 0:2

Buda Juniors FC „Black”  – FC Esztergom 0:1

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Piliscsaba SE 1:1

It was a slow start to the Winter Cup for the 2005-2006 age group. Although Winter Cup veterans – some of them at least – the guys looked a bit nervous. To kick off the Winter Cup season the fans favourite El Clasico was the first game and the guys have won 1:0 in a very close contested game. It was a solid performance without any glamour but effective. Up next were Pomáz and they deservedly won 2:0 against a shy Buda Juniors team. The 1:0 loss against Esztergom was a match that could have gone either way. Just like in the first game one good decision in front of goal was enough to seal the deal. The guys rounded off the day with a 1:1 against Piliscsaba but i am sure that there is much more to come from these guys as we proceed to the next stages of the 2017-2018 Winter Cup!

A day to forget for the Buda Juniors B team on their opening matchday.

Both Buda Juniors team were split evenly to try and compete on both fronts, but this strategy backfired from the first minute. Nerves were the main culprit, but also a lack of team effort.

The matchday started off with a BJ v BJ derby and it should’ve been a perfect start for both teams to brush their nerves aside. Nevertheless, a frustrated group of players forgot what it is to play and focused on less important things such as individualism and pety complaints agaibst the referee.

During the second match against Esztergom, team play was rarely seen. Individualism was the protagonist and that’s why the opposition managed to escape with a draw.

During the third match, a good Pomazi side and us very poor, led to a 7-0 hammering. This is what happens when team work and team play are not a priority. There is plenty of talent, but we need to polish the team play attributes... after all it is a team sport.

For the last match, they had to react someway and did correct mistakes that had cost us previously. However, perhaps the damage was already done and Piliscsaba managed to scrape a draw in the final minutes. Many of things to correct and plenty of issues to manage for the next matchdays... I have faith we can overturn these results!

2nd Match Day - 13.01.2018

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Buda Juniors FC „Blue” 0:2

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – FC Esztergom 3:1

Buda Juniors FC „Black”  – Pomazi Focisuli SE 2:1

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Piliscsaba SE 0:0

Having lost the opening game to our great rivals in the latest el Classico in a close game we clearly struggled to recover for our next game and amid a flurry of goals we began to feel sorry for ourselves and the game ran away from us. We showed a great attitude to win the third game thanks to two clinically taken goals from Kevin and Tian Yi again outstanding in goal. Despite creating numerous opportunities in our final game we failed to find the breakthrough our play deserved and had to settle for a hard thought draw. It proved to be a difficult matchday but the team deserved credit for turning our afternoon around with a strong finish to the tournament.

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Buda Juniors FC „Black” 2:0

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Pomázi Focisuli SE 3:1

Buda Juniors FC „Blue”  – FC Esztergom 2:2

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Piliscsaba SE 3:1

After reshuffeling the squads, the guys have put up a great performance again. In the first match against the other Buda Juniors team Dani Virág opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory. Pomáz were next and in the 3-1 win Martin, Cole and the returning Ádám were the main attacking force. The 2-2 thriller against a good Esztergom side was a Winter Cup classic that could have gone either way. Leo was brillinant in goals and Arthur provided the balance at the back. In the last match of the day the guys produced a great TEAM performance! Oriol, Alberto and Dani all scored, the Hungarian’s second left footed strike rounded off a day with 3 wins and 1 draw in 4 matches.

3rd Match Day - 27.01.2018

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Esztergom 1:0 (William)

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Piliscsaba 1:0 (Cole)

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Pomáz 4:0 (Móric (2), William, Cole)

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Buda Juniors 2:0 (Móric, Aaron)

With the squad changed again the Buda Juniors ’A’ team were up for another exciting round of matches in the Winter Cup 2017-2018 season. The guys have started a bit sleepy but still from the off worked really well as a team. It was the Winter Cup debutant William, who scored the only goal in a well deserved win over Esztergom.  The second game was a very phisical contest but on this day there was no too high mountain to climb for the guys. Just a couple of minutes in the game Cole fired into the far corner to give Buda Juniors the lead. Oriol looked like a giant between the posts having made some cracking saves, while  Luis and Aaron provided for balance at the back. It was a big game and you could just feel how focused the whole team worked. After two solid 1:0 wins Pomáz struggled to keep up with the attacking football of the black and blues. Two identical Cole runs down the left once setting up Móric, then William marked the highlights in a game which saw the guys run out 4:0 winners eventually but the scoresheet does not really reflect the dominance in the game. With 3 wins in 3 games the guys went full of confidence into the ’local derby’ against the other Buda Juniors team. A game full of passion. It was a proper all-round performance by Daniel upfront who showed tremendous work rate and Marten who seems to be the player for big occasions, since he came alive and did a fantastic job in the last match. Móric’s trademark strike was a beauty but when Aaron scored with a lob from deep into his own half you knew it: it is just one of those days!

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Pomázi Focisuli SE 2:1 (Kevin 2)

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Piliscsaba SE 2:3 (Nelson, Martin)

Buda Juniors FC „Blue” – Buda Juniors FC „Black” 0:2

Buda Juniors FC „Blue”  – FC Esztergom 1:2

We made a strong start to matchday three with a comfortable win thanks to two well taken goals from Kevin. Our afternoon began to unravel in our second game and despite dominating we squandered numerous opportunities and fell to an undeserved defeat. Going into our game against a familiar foe we knew that nothing but a win would suffice and in a tight encounter we fell behind. We threw caution to the wind late on while chasing a win that would keep our hopes alive we withdrew our goalkeeper and played with an extra outfield player. Our hopes were soon extinguished with a well taken long range effort put the game beyond us. The emotion got the better of the boys in our final game when we squandered a lead late on to fall to a narrow defeat. The boys were clearly suffering from our earlier defeat and this game proved a game too far.

In adversity we have to look at ourselves first, too many players looked to blame and criticise THEIR teammates and play for themselves. Our team spirit was lacking and if we learned anything on this chastening day it is that we should play for each other and the badge on our shirts.

4th Match Day - 25.02.2018

Buda Juniors FC „Black” - Pomázi Focisuli SE 0:10

Buda Juniors FC „Black” - Buda Juniors FC „Blue” 1:1

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – Piliscsaba SE 1:4

Buda Juniors FC „Black” – FC Esztergom 2:1

It was the last match day for the 2005/6 age group. Team Black have started with a heavy defeat thanks to the sleepy unfocused start. The guys needed to regroup and the 1-1 draw against Buda Juniors Blue Team was a much better performance. The rollercoaster ride continued and after a 4-1 loss against Piliscsaba the boys came back to round off this season's Winter Cup with a hard fought 2-1 win over Esztergom with Koen scoring twice. Besides Leo the Dutch was the outstanding performer not only scored the golas but his attitude throughout the day has been an example to follow!

The last match day for our 2005/06 "A's" came about with the knowledge that we have already been the Winter Cup winners.

Nevertheless, football players with game faces arrived on a cold Budapest morning!

There was only one thing asked from them, heart and discipline. They delivered on all accounts.

The first match showed their discipline... whoever was on the field maintained there position and helped out both offensively and defensively. Even though it was a close 2-0 loss, the overall structure kept us always in the game.

The second match was the derby against the other Buda Juniors team. Again it was always going to be close, but this time along with the discipline came the heart from our boys and girl. Especially when Moric hits a wonder free kick in the top corner from halfway leaving Leo perplexed to what just happened... and the celebration that followed showed what it meant to him and the team SIUUUUUU!!!. We let a goal near the end to finish 1-1, but like the ones before what a match is was.

Heading to the third game, it was another great display. Fight was there and with that fight we managed to score a last minute winner against a stubborn Esztergom side. Nelson showed up at the back post and put it away like a natural number 9.

The last game was another well fought battle. There was great football played and great drive to win the match. Our goal was something made from the blackboard.... a coach's dream goal with Cole setting up Kevin to be 1v1 against the GK and him passing it to the side so that Moric has a free tap in. Lightning quick making it look easy. The match ended 1-1, but our heads were held high and anxiously waited to lift that coveted trophy.

Congratulations.

Rodrigo
