1st Match Day - 25.11.2017

Buda Juniors FC  – Csillaghegyi MFS  0:3

Buda Juniors FC  – Pomazi Focisuli SE 111

Buda Juniors FC  – Piliscsaba SE 0:6

Nervous start as it is to many that play a tournament for the first time. But this didn't affect their energy and overall excitement of participating in the Winter Cup. All the player showed up eager to play and play regardless of the results!

First match (LOSS): Nerves were a big part to the opener especially when you concede a goal in the first seconds of the match. It took them a while to settle in the match and only then realised they could actually pass, move, tackle and dribble! Despite the loss they showed great attitude.

Second match (LOSS): It took till the second match for our 2009s to score. The goalscorer was Phillip with a nice finish.

Even though energy levels were high with great enthusiasm, we were completely overrun by the opponent. We lacked positioning and most importantly focus to avoid simple mistakes that ultimately cost us the game.

Third match (LOSS): Another loss for our 2009s, but it didn't mess with our energy and will to play. Our young 2009s kept going and going! They continuously looked for the goal but with no final reward. They have lots to improve and will definitely show in their next match-day.

2nd Match Day - 21.01.2018

Buda Juniors FC  – Csillaghegyi MFS  2:1 (Noah, Luca)

Buda Juniors FC  – Piliscsaba SE 3:2 (Anton2, Phillip)

Buda Juniors FC  – Pomazi Focisuli SE 4:4 (Luca2, Anton, Leo)

Truly a matchday for the ages. Having dominated the opening two games we had to be content with narrow wins on each occasion. Although our possession and general play was impressive we came up against inspired goalkeepers. It all came down to our final match to decide the outcome on matchday two. We got off to the worst possible start and were two goals down before we regained our focus and the boys finally settled down and began to play. To the boys credit we slowly played our way back into the game but all appeared lost when with less than five minutes remaining we found ourselves 4-1 down. Then the epic comeback began and with Anton's long distance screamer the boys grew in confidence before our very eyes. As each goal rained down the boys began to believe in the impossible. This game of games ended at 4-4 and surely only the referees final whistle prevented the greatest comeback since Istanbul 2005!

A day that will live long in the memory for those lucky enough to have said "I was there."

3rd Match Day - 03.02.2018

Buda Juniors FC  – FC Esztergom  4:1 (Leo, Luca, Anton2)

Buda Juniors FC  – Piliscsaba SE 2:2 (Luca, Anton)

Buda Juniors FC  – Marczibanyi Focisuli 5:2 (Phillip, Dani, Anton, OG)

The boys were super excited as matchday three drew closer but nobody seemed to hear the referees whistle and we found ourselves one goal behind within three seconds of the match kicking off. Once the boys settled down our superior skills came to the fore and we ran out comfortable winners with a goal apiece from Leo and Luca and a brace from the irrepressible Anton. Our opponents in the second game were clearly at a higher level and in a game were they had us pinned in our own half for long periods we were unfortunate to come up against another goalkeeping masterclass and settle for a hard fought draw. Our final game was a much simpler affair and the boys confidence was on show for everybody to see. The final whistle drew the afternoon to a close were the team gave their all and and made everyone connected to Buda Juniors very proud of what they had witnessed.

4th Match Day - 04.03.2018

Buda Juniors FC  – FC Esztergom  4:0 (Anton3, Noah)

Buda Juniors FC  – Marczibanyi Focisuli 2:0 (Anton2)

Buda Juniors FC  – Piliscsaba SE 2:3 (Anton, Milan)

You could feel the tension in the air as the boys gathered for the finale of the winter cup 2018 edition. The first game was a much closer affair then the score line suggested. Dani was outstanding in goal and after a shaky start we grew in confidence and took our chances in a clinical fashion. Our second game was played in a similar fashion to our opening game with Anton putting the game beyond our rivals who never gave up the game. Nerves got the better of us in the deciding game and despite falling two goals behind the boys simply refused to be beaten and threw everything at our rivals and despite one way traffic we could not find the goals that our play deserved. The emotion got the better of many of the boys at the final whistle but my feelings were full of pride for the effort and outstanding performances many of the boys gave.
